Have you ever wondered why some of your Instagram content doesn’t get more exposure? You can now find out!

Instagram has launched a new feature for professional accounts that allows users to see if their content is eligible to be shared with users outside of their network and what they can do if it is not. This is an effort to increase creator transparency.

Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, announced:

“Update on Account Status!

We are expanding Account Status so that professional accounts can learn whether their content may be eligible for recommendation to non-followers and how to stop it.

The path to it is as follows: Profile > Menu > Settings > Account > Account Status”

Check to see if your Instagram posts can be recommended in the feed.

How will it function then?

Instagram’s new “Account status” section will let you know if your content can be shared or if there is a problem you need to fix. You will see a yellow check in your profile details that you can follow to this section if there is a problem with any of your posts.

When you get to this part of the app, Instagram will show you the post that can’t be shared and tell you what’s wrong with your content. You will be able to modify or delete your post there, as well as appeal the decision.

Creators can use this to make sure they’re giving themselves the best chance to reach as many people as possible on the platform. You won’t have to wonder why your content isn’t reaching more people than your followers any more. You will now know for sure whether you have broken Instagram’s rules or need to develop a new creative strategy.

It will also end the age-old debate regarding who is “shadow-banned” and whether or not such a thing even exists (something that Instagram has always denied).

Therefore, if you have a professional Instagram account, we encourage you to immediately test this feature because you never know how much attention you might have missed for something that can be fixed!
